History.

The original call for a men’s ministry was made in 1947 at the Hillsdale General Conference; and was formally formed in 1951 called Light and Life Men.  In 1995, the newly elected board members voted to change their historical name from Light and Life Men to Men’s Ministry International.  Our mission today is to encourage men to grow in faith through fellowship.  To the right you will see some descriptions of some projects that were created at the beginning of MMI.  Project II Timothy 2:2 is still operating to this day.  We are continuing to add new ways to reach all types of men and especially young men in the United States and around the world.

Project II Timothy 2:2

The purpose of Operation 2 Timothy 2:2 is to equip and assist indigenous evangelists and church planters to effectively take the good news of Jesus Christ in the foreign field using their own language to their people. By discipling and training national pastors, church planters and evangelists in their home countries and cultures, more people can be reached to tell others about Jesus. 2 Timothy 2:2 was established in the Fall of 1993. Since then we have sponsored 76 different evangelists and church plants internationally. 100% of your vital donations go directly to the field!

Project Mech Men

The UN reports that at this time in human history there are more refugees and displaced people than at any other time on planet earth-65.3 million! One of the largest growth areas in the FMCUSA is with refugee groups forming churches and affiliating with the FMCUSA. Often these groups are seriously in need of transportation and use a single car to drive all over cities to pick up the church attenders for services and fellowship events. MECH MEN seeks to ease the burden of these young churches by procuring used people movers, repairing and servicing these vehicles and donating to a refugee church in need. Studies show that giving a people mover to a refugee church will grow it’s church attendance by 20% overnight!

Project Barnabas

Over 20 years ago God sparked the imagination of a group of men including Lucien Behar, Past Executive Director and Bob Couch, Project Barnabas Director.  This group of men wanted to make a physical difference in the lives of their brothers and sisters in other countries in need of encouragement, hence the name Project Barnabas.  This MMI Ministry has sent 35 huge semi-truck sized containers* to 12 different countries: Bulgaria, Burundi, Cameroon, Greece, Haiti, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zaire and Kibuye. The latest container actually became a complete Optometry Office.  In recent years, MMI has adapted the PB ministry to smaller strategic items and gifts to adapt to our changing world.
